Having owned a residential rental business since 2014, it is safe to say property is a HUGE part of my life! I first got involved in holiday rentals in 2016, when wanting to fill the summer holiday gap for a student property landlord, we decided to give AirBnB a go. What followed is essentially what you see on this website – a bit of a snowball effect of friends of friends hearing what we were doing,
Fast forward to 2017 and Holiday Cottage Co was born! I didn’t want it to be just another faceless management company. When we listed that first apartment back in 2016, I made sure I was involved in every element, from booking enquiries to cleaning to guest check in. I wanted to learn as much as I could about what guests need, but also how things are best managed for owners.
I made this business reflect what I feel is most important – a really personal company to deal with owners and customers. I hate the idea of having a guest have an issue and only being able to get hold of a call centre who can’t really help. I equally hate the thought of the owner just seeing spreadsheets of facts and figures about what could happen but not having a base they can pop in to for a coffee and a chat.
I also didn’t want to stop at just providing accommodation – booking a property through us should be about the experience not just the property. So we expanded to organising everything from activity bookings to shopping orders for guests, and property design services for owners. My motto basically has become hand us the keys, we can do the rest!
